If you didn’t already know, March is Women’s History Month! This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate female empowerment, all around the world.
It has occurred to me that this month is not just about celebrating female empowerment and acknowledging where we have come from, but it’s also about learning how we can empower other women to rise up and break barriers. In the spirit of Women’s History Month, I’ve come up with 3 tips to help you feel empowered and live a more fearless life – read on to find out more!
Empowering Female Role Models
Here in New Zealand, our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is an inspirational role model for women worldwide. She has inspired us all by defying the press and declining interviews, instead favouring a “one to many” approach. Kind and empathetic, Jacinda’s leadership style is unique – regularly communicating to the public via social media from her home. I recently read this article, which shares how Jacinda Ardern’s down-to-earth nature instils trust through clear communication and relatability. She’s epitomizes female empowerment and is a great source of inspiration for many.
Another amazing female role model who inspires me daily is Dr. Jane Goodall. Did you know that Au Natural Skinfood has partnered with the Dr. Jane Goodall Institute New Zealand!? We’re so excited about this – you can read about what this means, and the amazing Jane Goodall in this blog post.
My 3 Top Tips For Feeling Empowered and Fearless
- Embrace Your Imperfections
These days, with the pressure and expectations put on women to be perfect, getting to the state where you are comfortable in your own skin is honestly admirable.
Like most women, I wear makeup, and indeed, years ago, when I worked day to day in beauty clinics, I wore makeup every day. I learned the hard way that looking for that “quick fix” when it comes to skin just does not work!
These days, I wear makeup sparingly and I’m extremely careful about which makeup I do use. Like most things in my life, I find that a “less is more” approach works best. I believe we should all embrace our imperfections and even be empowered by them! After all, if we were all the same, the world would be incredibly boring.
- Look At What You’re Putting On Your Skin
Many women who are working from home have been wearing less makeup and reporting that their skin’s appearance is improved. Dr. James Hamblin (my hero) in his new book “Clean”, suggests that if your skin is playing up, you should just STOP using everything and allow the skin to repair itself, as nature intended.
When using skincare products, take a good look at the ingredients and ask yourself, “does my skin need this?” If the answer is no, take it out of your routine! Not only will this save you time, but it may also save your skin from being overloaded with unnecessary ingredients.
- Support And Empower Other Women
Seeing real change in society is a team effort – women around the world need to boost each other up. Whether this is offering a helping hand to a friend in need, supporting a female-run business, or telling the important women in your life that you appreciate them, every action helps, no matter how small it may seem.
