It’s been a long, hard year so far, and the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t made life easier for anyone. That’s why we’re encouraging you to observe World Mental Health Day with us on October 10. It’s a good reminder to take time nurture and be kind to ourselves.
Living Through A Pandemic Is Stressful
Let’s all acknowledge that we’re not living through normal times anymore. We’ve been trying to cope with a global pandemic for nearly a year, and admittedly it’s taken a toll on us all.
It can be hard spending so much time away from our friends and loved ones and not being able to do your normal social activities or daily routines. The isolation is real, and it can be a difficult time to cope.
Isolation isn’t the only stressors either, especially if you have children. Maybe you’re figuring out how to keep your kids engaged with their virtual learning, or if school has resumed where you are, you might be worried about their safety.
Prices have increased for many household necessities, including groceries, yet your income may have decreased, or perhaps you’ve even lost your job altogether.
You may be worried about elderly friends and family members who have pre-existing health conditions. Perhaps you’ve had to cope with the devastating loss of a loved one. You are not alone.
It’s Normal To Experience Mental Health Challenges In Abnormal Times
We’re all dealing with an extraordinary number of stressors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s normal to feel sad, afraid, worried, lonely, frustrated, or even angry because so much that is happening is out of our control, and we may not have access to the people, activities, and tools we usually use to cope.
If you already suffer from depression, anxiety, or any other mental illness, the exacerbated stress surrounding COVID-19 can make it even tougher to cope.
World Mental Health Day
This year, World Mental Health Day is focused on investing in mental health and making mental health care available and accessible to all. We think that’s a pretty great goal.
It’s important to recognize how we have been impacted by COVID-19, and acknowledge we’re all suffering stress and other mental health impacts because of it. World Mental Health Day is a good remember to be kind to one another and realise we’re all facing challenges, and we all need support.
It’s also a good time to remember to be kind to ourselves and give yourself space to breathe. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, and it’s okay to take time to rest, recharge, and find your balance again.
Mental Health And The Slow Beauty Movement
We all need to be true to ourselves. At Au Natural Skinfood, we believe that following our passion and believing in our ethos will deliver true results. We believe that beauty is holistic and should be developed from the inside out, which is why we are part of the slow beauty movement.
Too often, harsh, invasive products are pushed on us and marketed as a quick fix, but they do nothing to nourish our bodies, minds, and souls. The slow beauty movement shifts away from transitory convenience to slower, deeper, and truer ideals.
We believe in offering products that are truly good for you, and we uphold our own values in creating them. Our skincare products focus on dermo-nutrition, wellness, and genuine skin health.
This World Mental Health Day, we hope you’ll take time to nurture yourself.
As you rest and recharge, why not set aside a little home spa time? Our biome positive active 16+ Manuka honey skincare will help your skin to reset and recharge. Try our White Mud Mask or Manuka honey and bee venom sheet masks for a rejuvenating experience.
Try putting a few drops of lemon essence or freshly squeezed lemon/orange juice into a warm basin of water, sometimes I even include rose petals, take a wash cloth – drench it in the water, squeeze the excess water out and use slowly as a compress towel. It’s amazing how great you’ll feel by taking this small amount of time for yourself.
I’m here to help and support you on your journey to healthy skin, please contact me directly through [email protected] I would love to hear your experiences and I’m happy to answer any questions that you might have.
